The healing role was rather shaky with only white mage, astrologian, and scholar for several years. Do you want to micro manage a fairy and heal with heavy use of shields or do you want to heal with hots and a whole barrage of direct healing. So i felt arcanist would be handy for getting me towards dps and healing.

White mage is way better at mana management currently then scholar, current thin air is busted as far as mp management goes and your have afflatus solace as a free cure 2 at level 52 every 30 seconds. Tank takes half their hp in damage, the white mage says holy crap and uses cure 2 to get most of that back and puts regen on them to give the party breathing room.

Scholar is evolved from the class arcanist, as is summoner. When you compare a scholar's main heal, which is equal to that of the white mage cure 1, to the other cure 2 and cure 3 abilities that the white mage gets there really isn't much of a comparison. I find scholar to be my favorite.

Scholar Requires Indepth Technical Knowledge And Some Management To Get The Most Out Of It.
